My name is Theodore J. Burns Jr. I am 80 years old born in New York and raised in Iowa, and now live in Nebraska. I am a veteran of the Army and the Navy. I served in Viet Nam and Desert Storm. I demonstrated to stop the war in the 70s, as well as in other civil rights movements. I am now involved in the movement opposing Trump and MAGA.

When I was about 12 years old, I was a paper boy, and two of my customers (both women) were in one of Hitler’s detention camps. They showed me the tattoos they were given when they first entered the camp. I can still see their tired faces and the hesitation to show me their tattoos. Although they did not talk much about their experiences in the detention camp, it was enough to remember all these years later.

That experience made me sick to my stomach. When I see what is happening today, those images come to life again. I am afraid of what may come if, as a nation, we don’t stop Trump and his sycophants.
